The On-Board Diagnostic system monitors the performance of the ignition, fuel metering and emissions systems while your vehicle is being driven. The purpose of the OBD is to ensure everything functions correctly and to identify problems early. During an emissions inspection, technicians connect to the OBD to learn whether or not the vehicle is performing within Pennsylvania emission standards.
We test emissions for all counties in PA including Mercer County, Erie County, Allegheny County, Lackawanna County, and any Pennsylvania county that requires an emissions inspection. If your vehicle is registered in a county that requires emissions testing and you're near Kristyak's Service & Towing, you can take care of your emissions inspection and safety inspection at our authorized station.
Motorcycle inspections are required annually and may last for a year or less depending on your expiration month. For information on motorcycle inspection periods, see //www.dmv.pa.gov. Kristyak's Service & Towing will check the following components during your motorcycle inspection:
If your motorcycle passes inspection, you’ll receive a new sticker. If your bike doesn't pass inspection, we'll explain what needs to be fixed and how long you have to do so. We’ll also help you get your bike back in for re-inspection.
PennDOT requires certain vehicles to receive an Enhanced Inspection for the purpose of titling the vehicle in Pennsylvania. Kristyak's Service & Towing is authorized to conduct enhanced safety inspections on these vehicles.

Pennsylvania requires trailers with a gross weight of 3,000 lbs or greater to undergo an annual inspection. Kristyak's Service & Towing is a PA trailer inspection station authorized to perform safety inspections on trailers with a gross weight up to 10,000 lbs. If you own a cargo or utility trailer that meets inspection requirements, contact us to schedule service.
A road test is required to see if the trailer is capable of stopping within the maximum stopping distance and verify it does not swerve so much that any part leaves the 12 ft lane.
